Why Cypress is Superior

  • Tidewater Red Cypress is resistant to termite attack.
  • Tidewater Red Cypress is famous for its fine texture and beautiful grain.
  • Tidewater Red Cypress is concentrated with Cypressene which, prevents the growth of fungi.

The only wood species from which we mill our logs, Tidewater Red Cypress, is one of nature's best woods for log home construction with its natural resistance to termites and rot.

The heartwood our logs are milled from is classified by the US Department of Agriculture as very high in decay resistance, even under conditions favorable to decay. Its natural oil is highly antiseptic and toxin in preventing the development of fungi which causes decay.

Tidewater Red Cypress is grown in the deep swamps of the coastal plains of the Southeastern states and along the Gulf of Mexico adjacent to tidewater, and is the true species, Taxodium distichum.

Due to the high concentration of nature's non-toxic chemical, Cypressene, we are so convinced of the suitability of Tidewater Red Cypress as a log material that we offer a 60 year Limited Warranty against rot, decay, and termite infestation.

Tidewater Red Cypress has a very tight, dense grain pattern, which makes it less susceptible to twisting and warping tendencies common in most other wood species. Absolute minimal shrinkage and settling, and no screw jacks or slip joints required.
